The Mill on the Floss

This award winning adaptation, not only re-invents the classic novel but theatrically pushes it into new areas with its simple yet inventive style. The principal theatrical concept is having three actresses play the central character of Maggie Tulliver: spanning the 10 or so years of the story, as she develops from care-free girl, through emotionally-torn adolescence, till reaching maturity as a young woman. Once Maggie has metamorphosed into her next incarnation, the prior still remains, to guide (or haunt) our heroine. The cast play multiple parts as the short, physically vibrant scenes flow into each other, like the River Floss of the play’s title.
