Based on the much-loved Ealing Comedy film (Alec Guiness, Peter Sellers), but not altogether like it – much funnier!! – The Ladykillers is a classic black comedy; a sweet little old lady, alone in her house, is pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing.
Criminal mastermind, Professor Marcus, and his gang of oddball villains posing as musicians, meet their match when they take up residence in the top floor room of Mrs Wilberforce’s dilapidated house. A convenient location to plan a robbery from Kings Cross Station, they are sure their sweet-natured old landlady will be easily hoodwinked. But beneath her demure exterior, Mrs Wilberforce is made of sterner stuff and, with just her parrot, General Gordon, for moral support, she turns the tables on the bogus quintet.
I have a wonderful cast, including Chris Butler, Chris Yeldham, John Davis, Isaac Witherden and Joe Booton, all facing Trish Moram and her faithful constable friend, Greg Morley-Smith. And a parrot.
Come, sit back and laugh!
